About Koren
Koren Publishers is open to submissions from authors without an agent. Email a cover letter, a one-page abstract, a table of contents, two sample chapters and a short bio to its submissions address. The publisher says its review generally takes a number of months.
Koren Publishers Jerusalem publishes Jewish texts and books about Jewish life. Its list runs from the Tanakh, Humash and Talmud to siddurim and mahzorim, with titles in Hebrew, English, French, Spanish and other languages. The first Koren Tanakh appeared in 1962.
Koren Publishers works through several imprints. Koren covers sacred texts and prayer books, Maggid covers contemporary Jewish thought, and Toby and The Library of the Jewish People round out the list. Authors send one submission package by email, and the editors review it over several months.

Questions about Koren
Does Koren Publishers accept unagented submissions?
Yes. Koren Publishers takes submissions directly from authors by email, and its guidelines do not mention agents. Send a cover letter, a one-page abstract, a table of contents, two sample chapters and a short bio to submissions-e@korenpub.com. The house says review generally takes a number of months.
What should the abstract for Koren include?
The abstract should fit on one page. Koren asks you to state the topic, your thesis, the genre and the likely readership, and to explain what makes your book different from others on the subject. Keep it plain and specific so an editor can judge the fit quickly before reading the sample chapters.
Where is Koren Publishers based?
Koren Publishers Jerusalem is based in Jerusalem, Israel, as its full name says. It publishes in Hebrew, English, French, Spanish and other languages, so authors outside Israel can submit too. All submissions go by email to the same address, which makes the process the same wherever you live.
