About Getty Publications

Getty Publications accepts book proposals by email directly from authors. Choose one of its four imprints and email your proposal to that imprint's address. It does not accept paper proposals or complete manuscripts unless it requests one.

Getty Publications is based at 1200 Getty Center Drive in Los Angeles and was founded in 1954. It publishes books on art, photography, archaeology, architecture, conservation and cultural heritage. Its list covers illustrated works on artists and art history, exhibition catalogues, scholarly monographs and educational art books for children, plus trade monographs, memoirs, graphic biographies and young adult titles.

Proposals go by email to one imprint only: the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Research Institute or Getty Publications itself. Staff may forward your proposal to a better-suited imprint. Do not send a complete manuscript unless asked, and do not mail hardcopy proposals, which are not returned. Every manuscript goes through external peer review following COPE and AUP guidelines.
