About Big Sky Publishing
Big Sky Publishing is open only to complete adult nonfiction manuscripts in history, military history and true crime, with no agent needed. You email a synopsis, sample chapters or the full manuscript and an overview. Its fiction and children's lists are closed to submissions.
Big Sky Publishing is an independent Australian publisher. Its list covers military history, history, Australiana, true crime, self-help, parenting and biography. It also has a strong children’s category spanning picture books, early readers, middle grade and YA. Right now, though, it is only reviewing fully complete adult nonfiction in history, military history and true crime. Manuscripts that have been professionally edited or assessed are viewed favorably.
Submissions go by email with the title and genre in the subject line. You attach a one page synopsis, the first four chapters double spaced or the full manuscript, plus a two to four page overview covering the market, comparable titles, selling points and your bio. Assessment takes about two to three months. If Big Sky has not asked for more within four months, assume it will not proceed. Do not call.
