About Saraband
Saraband is open to nonfiction submissions by email from authors without an agent, but fiction and the Inklings series are closed. You send a book description, table of contents, one sample chapter and a short writing CV. Saraband says it cannot reply to most enquiries.
Saraband is a publisher founded in 1994. It moved from Glasgow to Salford, Manchester in 2017 and keeps its Scottish ties. It publishes fiction, nature and environmental writing, essays, life writing and pop culture for adult readers, plus audiobooks. Its list includes His Bloody Project by Graeme Macrae Burnet, Sandwiched by Catherine Simpson and the Encounters in the Wild series by Jim Crumley. It also runs Inklings, a series of pocket sized narrative nonfiction.
Today Saraband is open for nonfiction only, and you do not need an agent. You email a book description, a table of contents, one sample chapter and a brief CV relevant to your writing to the submissions address on its Trade and Submissions page. Fiction submissions are closed. The Inklings series is also closed, and its last window ran from 1 to 31 August 2025. Saraband says it is unable to respond to most enquiries.
