About Gray & Company

Gray & Company, Publishers is a regional Ohio press that publishes nonfiction about Cleveland, Northeast Ohio and Ohio, chosen for readers in the Cleveland area. Its list covers Cleveland history, sports, true crime, TV, radio and news, travel and the outdoors. Authors include Terry Pluto, Regina Brett and Neil Zurcher. Its site states plainly that it is not a vanity press and that authors cannot pay it to publish their books.
Proposals are open by email to editorial@grayco.com. Send an outline, sample text or the manuscript, a description of the intended audience and a short note on your qualifications. The press sends a receipt in about a week, but its small staff means a decision can take a long time and a reply is not guaranteed. It does not review mailed or hand delivered proposals, fiction or books that are not mainly about the region.
