Does CMC Press accept unsolicited manuscripts?

Not right now. CMC Press is not currently accepting new submissions. When it is open, it accepts proposals directly from authors without agents, sent by email to cmcpress@cmc.org. It asks for a full proposal rather than a complete manuscript. Partial proposals may not be considered. Most of its titles are written by members of the Colorado Mountain Club.

How do I submit to CMC Press?

When CMC Press reopens, you email a full proposal to cmcpress@cmc.org. Include an author bio with qualifications and work samples, a book pitch, a sample table of contents, one sample chapter and a competitive review of comparable titles. Pitches should focus on outdoor recreation in Colorado, Utah or the Mountain West. Send every item, since partial proposals may not be considered.

How long does CMC Press take to reply?

A final decision comes within 90 days. The Advisory Board reviews submissions quarterly on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis, so timing can depend on when your proposal arrives.
